One-Yard Lunch Bag

by Kate on April 14, 2011

I finally figured out what to make with my yard of Tammis Keefe Tomato Dogs. I followed the Quilted Lunch Bag pattern from One-Yard Wonders. Not difficult to make but it did take me an afternoon at the machine (accompanied some green tea and The Bird and The Bee’s tribute to Hall & Oates). The hardest part was binding the bias tape on top of two layers of the quilted material. I used a fairly thick batting because I wanted my bag to be well insulated. I think I will go with a thinner batting next time. My machine seemed to have a bit of trouble even though I was using a denim needle and a walking foot. The teal bias tape felt right since the fabric is straight out of the ’50s.

P.S. Be sure to come back tomorrow because I’m going to announce my very first giveaway. I promise you will like eet.

I checked out this book because it a Storey book and I saw this pattern and thought I should try it as a cross-over project to the lunchitpunchit.com blog. and because my lunch tote is on its last layer of fabric – eek!
