Egg Mold How-to

by Kate on May 30, 2012

What will the Japanese think of next? I’ll tell you what. Egg molds that put adorable faces on your eggs. That’s what. I love these little guys and so does Stella. However, getting a cute egg out of one can be a little tricky.

Step 1: Hardboil eggs using your usual method. I boil mine for about 10 minutes.

Step 2: Peel hardboiled eggs while they are still hot. This can be a little painful so you have to work fast.

Step 3: Place the hot egg inside of the mold and snap it slowly and carefully shut. Some egg white may come out of the sides, which is normal.

Step 4: Place egg molds in an ice bath for 10-15 minutes.

Step 5: Carefully remove the egg from the mold and trim excess white from the sides. Ta da! You can see from mine that it’s really tricky to remove them intact. My bear and bunny suffered some ear loss but you get the idea. I’m hoping to perfect my technique in time.

All people large and small love to eat these cute eggs!
