I unintentionally made an homage to Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds. I cast Judith as the lead character, Melanie, who was originally played by Tippi Hedren. Oh what, you think Judith would settle for a supporting role? If you don’t know, you betta ask somebody. The birds on either side of her are throwing some hateful side-eyes too. Remember in the movie how birds of all species flocked together to attack the town? That’s happening right now on my pillow.
“Judith, I’m going to peck that patronizing look right off of your face.”
All Hitchcockery aside, I loved making this pillow. I followed the Wonky Little Houses pattern from Such Designs. You know I like my men like I like my sewing patterns: fun and forgiving. It was the perfect kind of quilting for yours truly. I had the good fortune to meet Carrie (the artist behind Such Designs) at BlogHer last month. She is an inspiring, talented lady and I love her patterns. You know what else? There is a coordinating pattern for the Wonky Little Houses quilt! Check it:
And yes, there is a giveaway sponsored by Such Designs (thanks Carrie!). Come back tomorrow for the exciting details!
Until then, enjoy looking at the back of my pillow. It’s Judith and all of her smug little friends.

Hateful side-eyes? Lol! This is my favorite post yet.
Hateful side-eyes are a real thing, you know
Cracking up since The Birds is my mom’s number #1 scary movie of all time. Freaks. Her. Out. This pillow would cause her to go into hysterics! Now, if you you can do one inspired by the The Shining, we would cover all bases…
Funny, I was just working on a REDRUM applique tote bag.
Excellent! Will go perfectly with my REDRUM tampon case!
I just love this so, so much. Am laughing so hard reading what you wrote and then the funny comments! I have this same echino bird fabric and never thought to be as bold and funny and creative as you were with it! And thanks for all the kindnesses. I am so happy you liked the pattern. You rocked it! Serious awesomeness.
