What will the Japanese think of next? I’ll tell you what. Egg molds that put adorable faces on your eggs. That’s what. I love these little guys and so does Stella. However, getting a cute egg out of one can be a little tricky.
Step 1: Hardboil eggs using your usual method. I boil mine for about 10 minutes.
Step 2: Peel hardboiled eggs while they are still hot. This can be a little painful so you have to work fast.
Step 3: Place the hot egg inside of the mold and snap it slowly and carefully shut. Some egg white may come out of the sides, which is normal.
Step 4: Place egg molds in an ice bath for 10-15 minutes.
Step 5: Carefully remove the egg from the mold and trim excess white from the sides. Ta da! You can see from mine that it’s really tricky to remove them intact. My bear and bunny suffered some ear loss but you get the idea. I’m hoping to perfect my technique in time.
All people large and small love to eat these cute eggs!

Yeeeeeehaw! I finally brought my vintage steeds to life with paint and brush. It took a lot longer than I expected but I am tickled at how they turned out. I was thinking about the kids who had this kit in the ’70s. They probably sat down to paint with the Six Million Dollar Man blaring in the background. They sported bell bottoms and snacked on Jiffy Pop. They wrote book reports about Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. And they daydreamed of kissing David Cassidy…or Farrah. You know. Back in the olden times.
What ever shall I name these magnificent beasts???

I finally finished my second Barclay Apron. This one is for her majesty, Miss Eleanor Katy (my namesake!). I’ve been dying to use this half yard of flower fabric for something special. Une Belle Fleur! And no, I don’t remember who makes the fabric because I didn’t save the selvage. Like an idiot.
I hope Ellie wears her apron while bossing people around and making pretend cakes for tea parties with her cats. That’s what she does for a living. Kitty cat tea parties.

I’m back after some intense traveling and down time. Miss me?
I’m nicely recharged and back on the sewing train. Also, I have a serious love of gingham so here we go. I just finished this lil’ gingham apron for the Artist formerly known as Stella. I followed the adorable Barclay Kitschy Apron pattern by Ruby Jean’s Closet. This apron is so hot off the presses that Stella hasn’t even seen it yet. She’s at preschool getting educated so she can support me some day.
Ruby Jean’s direction was very easy to follow and took no time at all. I’m currently working on a second apron for another little lady, Miss Ellie “Misdemeanor”, who lives in SoCal. Love the fold-down decorative bib feature and roomy pockets on this apron.
Can’t wait to spring this on Stella later today
